At MTNTEK Coatings Ltd, we believe that proper surface preparation is the foundation of a long-lasting concrete coating. That’s why we go beyond standard practices to thoroughly inspect and address all cracks, imperfections, and underlying damage before any coating is applied. Our team uses industry-leading techniques and repair materials to restore structural integrity and create a smooth, clean surface—ensuring maximum adhesion and durability of the final treatment. This attention to detail not only extends the life of the coating but also enhances the performance and aesthetic of the finished concrete surface.
STEP ONE
GRIND..
First thing we do is grind the floor removing any coatings and getting a uniform finish. Our planetary grinders are attached to HEPA rated vacuums to eliminate airborne dust!
STEP TWO
BLAST.
Shotblasting is what sets us apart from our competition, while most installers just vacuum, we shotblast all floors with spalling to insure a properly prepped surface.
STEP THREE
FILL.
After grinding we chase any cracks and prep damaged areas to fill with either a specialized polyurea or urethane concrete patch. The repair is then ground flush and the entire floor is cleaned.
STEP FOUR
BASECOAT.
Every floor gets a 100% solids Moisture Vapour Barrier as a base coat which is capable of withstanding 25 lbs of vapour. This low viscosity coating ensures we get a good bond with the properly prepared substrate eliminating failures.
STEP FIVE
FLAKE.
We flake to rejection on every floor, this ensures the flake is part of the complete floor system, giving more impact resistance vs a floor with no flake or partial flake. With 26 signature colours and literally thousands of custom blends, there is a colour combination for everyone.
STEP SIX
SAND.
The attention to detail is what matters most, and this is why our flake system receives and double over with a secondary sand. Our team will sand with 120 grit screens on a swing sander in two directions to ensure a perfectly smooth floor, and fine finish.
STEP SEVEN
TOPCOAT.
Every floor gets a hybrid hi-performance polyaspartic topcoat, with excellent UV resistance, non yellowing and high gloss characteristics. the product we use is abrasion and impact resistant and optionally we can add a nano polymer top coat giving superior chemical resistance than other coatings on the market. Micro media traction agents can be added for extra slip resistance.
